Fields we operate in Norway
We’re responsible for 70% of oil and gas production in Norway, and we believe this region still has a bright future. We’re developing the Johan Sverdrup, Aasta Hansteen and Johan Castberg fields, aiming to maintain sustainable and profitable production at today’s levels until 2030 and beyond. Our Alve field lies about 16 kilometres southwest of Norne.

Veslefrikk was the first development offshore Norway to use a floating production unit.
Fields around the world
About half of our business now takes place outside Norway, and we are present in several of the most important oil and gas provinces in the world.
In 2014, we were engaged in production in 11 countries outside Norway: Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, Libya, Nigeria, Russia, the UK, the US and Venezuela. Our international operations accounted for some 39% of our total equity production of oil and gas in 2014. We also hold exploration licences in Alaska, Canada, the Gulf of Mexico, South America, sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
